A UNM Friends of Dance Scholarship alumnus, Garza received his degree in flamenco and contemporary dance. Garza performed in numerous university productions including Martha Graham’s Panorama and Sarabande, Dark Meadows, David Parsons’ Etude, and Takehiro Ueyama’s Salaryman. He has performed with Yjastros, The American Flamenco Repertory Company. Garza’s dance background also includes Regional Mexican Folklórico. He has worked with multiple renowned Mexican Folklórico artists from various regions in Mexico and Texas including Jaime Buentello Bazán. Garza has been nationally recognized by The Dizzy Feet Foundation and The National YoungArts Foundation.
